MINUTES OF CFAC MEETING
May 12, 2008

Meeting

I. Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to David Bogin. Bob motioned we make David a member and Leslie seconds the motion and all agreed. David was voted a member and given a letter of appointment.

II. Approval of Agenda (Any additions/changes by Committee Members)

Approved with addition of Jim Greer.

III. Review/Approval of April Minutes

Approved.

IV. CFAC June Meeting in Polk County

Leslie and Donna will continue to work on this.

V. WHN Update

Secretary wants to approve up to 3 LME’s in each region of the state. WHN has now contacted Mecklenburg LME and they will host a meeting with Director’s of all the LME’s within the area (to be held by the end of June). WHN Board will meet for public hearing regarding the 2008/2009 budget on Friday, May 16th at 9:00am at WHN. Fund Balance information will be reviewed.

VI. Jim Greer

Money is left over from the CFAC Regional Conference and Trainings. The money will need to be spent before the end of June. The request currently is for each CFAC will send their SCFAC rep and one other member to meet (in Winston-Salem) on May 30, 31, June 1 OR June 6, 7 and 8th. The meeting will be in regards to next year’s conference. Arthur brought up the idea/suggestion of having Larry Fricks, a Motivational Speaker who would be a great speaker for the next conference.

VII. Regional CFAC Trainings/Letter to Legislators

(Handout of Legislator emails.) Bill motioned that Bob write a letter to the legislators requesting another SCFAC conference be held next year. Howard seconds the motion. All agreed. Bob will email the letter to Heidi who will email the letter to all CFAC members, asking if they would like to attach their name to the letter.

VIII. Community Relations Specialist Increase

Many of the duties that the past Community/Consumer Relations specialist were doing were not really functions or duties that the LME was supposed to be doing. Any gaps should be brought up and the department will see how the gaps can be filled. Arthur would like a copy of the letter (the original was sent to Mandy Stone). Bob will get Arthur a copy.

IX. Mountain Council Request

(Handout) The Mountain Council will again be hosting “Recovery Rocks the Mountains” and is asking for donations. WHN will be donating $250.00 and is asking CFAC to match the donation. Rosemary motions that CFAC match the donation. Bob seconds the motion and all agreed. Heidi will work on the paperwork for the donation.

X. Budget FY 2008/2009

(Handout) The State decides the categories the money will be divided into. The WHN Board will meet on Friday, May 16th at 9:00am at WHN Boardroom to go over the budget. The proposals on page 7 are the items to be reviewed. This is the one area that WHN Board gets to vote on and CFAC may have input. This section is regarding the LME Administration Expenditures. Bob Carey will attend Friday’s Budget meeting at WHN and will let the WHN Board know that CFAC members present at the May meeting have reviewed and approved the proposed 2009 budget.

XI. WHN Board Meeting Report

(Handout) Kelly attended the last meeting and has emailed everyone copies of the notes she wrote. A huge thank you to Kelly for a job well done. The notes are very thorough.

XII. "Working For Your Future"

(Handout of draft Brochure) Andrea will get back with Rose on all requested corrections. So far we have over 80 people who have signed up to attend. Heidi will put in for mileage reimbursement for those who attend the event.

XIII. Committee Reports

a. Membership – Bill Cook
This item will be an agenda item for the next CFAC meeting

b. Executive Committee Report - Bill Cook
Executive committee does not meet until next week, May 21, 2008.

c. Finance - Rosemary Weaver
Rosemary will get with Bill and Heidi to go over budget proposals for WHN. This will have to be done before July 2008.

XIV. TNew Business

The next CFAC Meeting  - June 23rd in Polk County.
