WHN: LOCUS Training (Adult MH Assessment) (9:00AM - 12:00PM)
WHN Training - 356 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville
LOCUS - New Level of Care Assessment Tool
Location: Western Highlands, 356 Biltmore Ave (Board Room) Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
As of January, 2012 a new assessment tool will be used to assess level of care needs for mental health consumers:
- LOCUS - Level of Care Utilization System (18 years and older)
- CALOCUS - Child / Adolescent Level of Care Utilization System (ages 5 - 17)
These assessments will be required for all Treatment Authorization Requests for Medicaid and State Funds beginning in January 2012. This assessment replaces the GAF.

Current assessments for substance abuse diagnosis (ASAM) and I/DD diagnosis (SIS) will continue as usual. Monthly trainings will be held at Western Highlands.
In-person training is required by the American Association of Community Psychiatrists & the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to maintain the validity and reliability of the assessment. Pack Memorial Library is located at 67 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville. Take Exit 4C (Haywood Street/Montford Avenue) off I-240. The library is on the corner of Haywood Street and Vanderbilt Place, near the Asheville Civic Center. You may park at a meter on the street or in the Civic Center parking garage directly behind the building. To enter the library, park on level 5 in the parking garage and use the connecting walkway directly from the garage.
