Using Person-Centered Thinking to Develop Person-Centered Organizations

Michael Smull, Support Development Associates, Annapolis, MD

If we are to have a system that supports self-determination for everyone, people with disabilities who use the services will need to: know what they want; have enough control over funding to buy those pieces that need to be paid for; and, have access to agencies that will supply the supports they want to buy.  Michael Smull has done more to explore how these can occur for everyone, regardless of the significance of their disability, than probably any one else to date.  Whether this is the first time you have heard Michael Smull or you’ve heard him many times, join one of the great thinkers of the day in this engaging workshop.  This session will focus on how we can transform our agencies by using person-centered thinking skills.

Location:  Royal Conference Center, 3801 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27607

Cost: $45 per workshop

Registration:  Please visit http://www.nccdd.org/pages/leadership/leadership.html today!

Please help us spread the word by forwarding this announcement to any lists or individuals who may have interest. These nationally-recognized speakers will be discussing important trends in the provision of supports to people with disabilities and their families.  Each session is open to and appropriate for: directors and administrators, supervisors, direct support professionals, family members, self-advocates and anyone else who has interest in these topics.

In today’s environment of major budget cuts, we’ve got to come together to explore innovative ways of providing services and supports to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.  Please join us for these important conversations.  Each workshop will be led by a renowned speaker from the DD field; each has years of experience leading organizations and aiding systems transformation.
