Review of Action Plan

  1. Jim and David to do a small presentation at the next CFAC Meeting.
  2. Heidi is still trying to coordinate the meeting.
  3. Bill will email all missing members regarding the need to RSVP to meetings so that appropriate number if meals may be ordered.
  4. Heidi is still waiting to hear from Bob.
  5. Still waiting for applications.
  6. Bill and Jim will continue to work on this.  Jim is working with all the CFACs that he covers, on this issue.
  7. The new WHN MH Specialist will pick up this project and help training a few CFAC members when the specialist is hired.

Critical Issues

·   Paperwork Overload – (Handout) This topic is often covered at different meeting across NC.  Many providers have stated that they can take up to 3 hours of paperwork to register clients.  Electronic submission is another item discussed to speed up the paperwork load and process.

·   Substance Abuse Parity – Handout was given at the last CFAC meeting.  This item is still being discussed at the SCFAC level.

WHN Update

 (Arthur Carder)

·   Referral to SA Programs to keep them in place.  Specialty care providers need the referrals.

·   Day beds are still available.

·   No System of Care for NC Mental Health Care – Some system needs to be in play.

·   Community Relations Specialist Increase – WHN is looking into a new program (adopted in Australia) uses like a First Aid sort of system to increase the skill and knowledge of entire area.  This approach will cover more area rather than just having one individual.  www.thenationalcouncil.org

Annual Board Meeting

·   November 13, 2008 – All CFAC Members are invited to attend.  If any member would like to bring a guest, WHN will not pay for that guest as it will be the responsibility of the member.  Please feel free to nominate someone you think deserves the Rowe Lifetime Achievement Award.

·

October WHN Board Meeting Report  (Bill Cook)

·   Barbara Trumbel – New Board Member representing Polk County.

·   Community Relations Specialist Increase will be brought to the Joint Executive Committee Meeting in October and discussed.

·   Veteran Issues – Invite Veteran’s to come talk to WHN Board.

·   WHN will increase the Families Together contract to expand to the North and the South counties.

·

On-going Business Updates

·   Member Applications – No new member applications.  The last applicant has withdrawn due to personal reasons.

·   Heidi and Bill will continue to work on the current potential members.

Committee Reports

·   Executive – Draft Minutes will be emailed out.

·   Finance / Budget – Ron, Kelly and Rosemary have come up with a requested budget.  This budget will be voted on at the October CFAC meeting.

·   Heidi will make sure that Arthur gets a copy of the requested budget.

New Business

·   Alcohol/Drug Council of NC Conference – Bill would like to attend and support WHN and WHN CFAC at this event.

Heidi will put in the paperwork for Bill to attend this event.
