Announcements

Heidi announced that WHN is hosting community forums to gather information from the different communities regarding Budget Reductions imposed by DMH.  One forum was held today at Weaverville Library and the other will be held at Isothermal College Spindale Campus tomorrow, September 29th 11:00am-1:00pm.

Voting on New Members

CFAC voted yes to Joe Crowder becoming a member of CFAC.   Joe Crowder is now a member of CFAC and will represent MH for Polk County.

CFAC agreed to make a strong objection to the WHN Board holding closed sessions concerning board membership.  This objections will be included in the CFAC report to the Board.

Heidi will add Joe Crowder to the Member contact form.

Action/ Crisis Items

CFAC Secretary:   Item is resolved and CFAC members are aware of the responsibility of keeping the rest of the members informed of needed information.  This responsibility should not always fall on the same members.  Item will be deleted from the action plan.

WHN Update

WHN Board membership and the different rotations of membership are currently being discussed and reviewed.

Budget Reductions:  A reduction of roughly 6 million.  Arthur gave a handout of the breakdown of the different ways to reduce that money.

Developmental Therapy - $1,351,343 – WHN current serving over 300 consumers.

Community Support - $1,700,00 will be cut but Outpatient services will increase costing about an additional $700,000.

With these cuts to Community Support Services and Developmental Therapies there will be an expected rise in Outpatient Services.

Bob Carey talks about the Community Forum that took place today at the Weaverville Library.  Some community members are feeling like cuts are not coming across the different disabilities.  Although – Developmental Therapies is a service provided for DD clients and is a similar service to Community Support for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Clients.

A reminder that Mobile Crisis Services/First Responder Services are available for all 8 counties.  With the different cuts in services, WHN is expecting a rise in these services.

Bob would like to make a motion that CFAC support Scenario #2.  Leslie amended saying – CFAC had initial concerns but with further information provided – they are in support of Scenario #2.  Bob motioned, Rosemary second the motion and all were in favor.

CFAC members also spoke about the great work that WHN staff did around the different scenario’s to deal with the imposed budget reductions.

Raleigh is “meeting” a lot around all the different issues.

Rosemary Weaver spoke about the Recovery Conference that she attended in Winston-Salem.  Rosemary will be contacting Donald Reuss to set up a time where the committee can meet and decide how to move forward.  Heidi put into tonights’ packet the list of those that attended the last PET training.
