WHN Board membership and the different rotations of membership are currently being discussed and reviewed.
Budget Reductions: A reduction of roughly 6 million. Arthur gave a handout of the breakdown of the different ways to reduce that money.
Developmental Therapy - $1,351,343 – WHN current serving over 300 consumers.
Community Support - $1,700,00 will be cut but Outpatient services will increase costing about an additional $700,000.
With these cuts to Community Support Services and Developmental Therapies there will be an expected rise in Outpatient Services.
Bob Carey talks about the Community Forum that took place today at the Weaverville Library. Some community members are feeling like cuts are not coming across the different disabilities. Although – Developmental Therapies is a service provided for DD clients and is a similar service to Community Support for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Clients.
A reminder that Mobile Crisis Services/First Responder Services are available for all 8 counties. With the different cuts in services, WHN is expecting a rise in these services.
Bob would like to make a motion that CFAC support Scenario #2. Leslie amended saying – CFAC had initial concerns but with further information provided – they are in support of Scenario #2. Bob motioned, Rosemary second the motion and all were in favor.
CFAC members also spoke about the great work that WHN staff did around the different scenario’s to deal with the imposed budget reductions.
Raleigh is “meeting” a lot around all the different issues.
