4 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Interpretation
DMH/DD/SAS provides specialized mental health and substance abuse services statewide for deaf and hard of hearing consumers of all ages. Through regionally-based programs, culturally and linguistically appropriate outpatient services are provided throughout North Carolina by culturally competent clinicians who are fluent in sign language and understand the treatment needs of consumers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind.

The mission of Children First is to improve the lives of children, youth and their families through community collaboration, advocacy and programs.
13 F.I.R.S.T
A nonprofit, parent driven and family centered organization started in 2001. F.I.R.S.T. started as Special Needs Families' Information Resource Support and Technology, and is an information clearinghouse, resource center, and unique source of support to families of children with disabilities. We are in partnership with the Asheville Parks and Recreation Department in Buncombe County. F.I.R.S.T. has been awarded CPRC funding from the Department of Education for parent training and information of children's rights under IDEA. Our project "Family Education Collaborative" will serve Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Yancey Counties.
